Information on the family history of our Malcher and Mason lines.
Malcher Genealogy
We’ve traced our line of Malchers back to 1630, in Fulnek, Czech republic, and the nearby Odrau and Wolfsdorf, in north eastern Moravia (Mähren) in the former Czechoslovakia, within what was the Austro-Hungarian empire. Our family more recently came from Innsbruck, Austria.
In 2007 Helen Malcher released a book that provides extensive detail of many of the characters involved in the family’s history. A PDF of the full book is available here;
There is also a full family tree available. It’s available in two parts:
- Images files of the Malcher family tree – Family Tree Image 1 (54MB). The posters shown in these photos were last updated by Helen Malcher in 2012.
- Corrections are available here: Family Tree Image 2 (Corrections) (55MB).
- The family trees in the posters were created with the software Brother’s Keeper 6 (www.bkwin.org). We’d be happy to share the data files we have. Please contact Chris Malcher at family@malcher.com.au if you’d like the source data files.
Mason Genealogy
The Mason family left Ireland in 1839 during the famine and moved to Australia. Most of the eleven who migrated married quite quickly in the young country of Australia, and settled around the Tamworth area in the 1870s.
In 2015 Helen Malcher (nee Mason) released the book “The Mason Story”.
- Information on the book is available here: www.masonstory.com.
